My husband and I are unsure if we should have another child. For us, we don’t want one, as I am in my 40’s and afraid of having a child with disabilities. We are also just happy as we are with our little family of three.

Our concern is of course our son growing up alone. Do only children feel lonely on holidays and special occasions like Christmas? Even on weekends or after school if there aren’t many children living in your street? We aren’t surrounded by family, so often it will just be the three of us.

Also, as adults how do only children feel? With no siblings, do they feel alone when they could be having get together’s with a brother or sister? When my husband and I pass, will they wish they had a sibling they could turn too?

I know I need a crystal ball to answer these questions; but can anyone give me any insight based on their own experiences? I am terrified of making the wrong decision.

Thank you in advance for your help
